About the Academy
The Public Sector Procurement Academy offers short, practical courses for people who buy on behalf of the public. The aim is simple: fairly priced training that builds judgement, not just knowledge.
Who's behind it
Written by a practitioner
The Academy is run by Tim Young FCIPS, founder of Young Procurement. Tim has more than 25 years' experience in procurement across the public and private sectors, including regional procurement management in construction, and now provides procurement and compliance services to public sector bodies.
He tutors CIPS students at Levels 3 to 6 and holds the Award in Education and Training. Every course is written for the work procurement teams actually do, using realistic, fictional cases.

How we work
Our commitments
- Accurate and reviewed. Courses reflect the Procurement Act 2023 as it applies in England. Each one carries a review date and is updated as guidance changes.
- Fairly priced. Low one-off prices, no subscriptions and no VAT.
- Accessible. Courses work with a keyboard and screen reader, on phones and desktops. See our accessibility statement.
- Training, not legal advice. Courses teach good practice; for a live procurement, take legal advice where you need it.
Independence. The Academy is an independent training provider. It is not part of, and is not endorsed by, UK Government, the Cabinet Office or Crown Commercial Service, and its courses are not CIPS qualifications.
